Midco Charity Invitational Donates $22,000 to The Compass Center

Sioux Falls, SD: The 22nd annual Midco® Charity Invitational, held on September 7 at Spring Creek Country Club in Harrisburg, raised $22,000 to support The Compass Center. The donation breaks the previous record of $20,000, which was raised for the DakotAbilities Longfellow Center campaign in 2015 and for the YMCA® Afterschool Program and EmBe in 2014.

The Compass Center is a Sioux Falls nonprofit that supports domestic and sexual violence survivors with free advocacy and counseling services. Each year, the center helps more than 1,000 people from the Sioux Empire.

“We are blessed to benefit from the Midco Charity Invitational,” says Michelle Markgraf, Executive Director of The Compass Center. “We currently have waiting lists for both play therapy and adult therapy services, and this donation will help us open more opportunities for people in crisis to receive help.”

“The Compass Center provides a unique and greatly needed service our community,” says Tom Simmons, SVP and Chief of Staff at Midco. “They are committed to breaking the cycle of domestic violence by working with all parties involved. Through our support of this important agency, we’re proud to provide financial assistance and bring greater awareness to their mission.”

The Midco golf tournament has been a charitable event for 14 years, with a total of $173,000 donated to local nonprofits. This year, 22 teams – made up of 88 Midco Business customers, vendors and employee captains – played in the 18-hole scramble tournament.
