My Internet is Down - Wireless Connection

Many factors can impact a no Internet scenario – computer settings, routers, modems, antivirus software.

  1. If there are multiple devices and only one is offline, the issue is likely due to the device.  If turning the device off and then powering it back on does not resolve the issue the device manufacturer should be contacted to restore the connection.
  2. Power-cycle the modem – this helps reestablish a stuck connection or a failed firmware update.
    1. Unplug power cable from rear panel of modem
    2. Leave unplugged for about 15 seconds
    3. Plug power cable back in to rear panel of modem
    4. Once power is restored, allow 2 to 3 minutes for router to come back on line and test the connection by attempting to access a public site such as Midco.com.
  3. Power cycle the router. This step is only necessary if a separate router is present.
    1. Unplug power cable from rear panel of router
    2. Leave unplugged for about 15 seconds
    3. Plug power cable back in to rear panel or router
    4. Once power is restored, allow 2 to 3 minutes for router to come back on line and test the connection by attempting to access a public site such as Midco.com.
