Hearing & Speech Assistance

We provide hearing and speech support assistance to disabled customers throughout our region.

With Telecommunications Relay Service (TRS), commonly known as relay calling, operators help facilitate communication between the calling and receiving parties. Simply dial 7-1-1 from your Midco® home phone.


Lifeline Assistance

The internet is increasingly important to our daily lives – for work, school and just staying connected. And for some people, the telephone is their link to the outside world. That’s why low-income households can get affordable home phone or internet access through the federal Lifeline assistance program.

If you are interested in federal Lifeline benefits, you can apply in any of these three ways:

  • Apply online using our online form, and upload scans of your eligibility documentation.
  • Contact us at 1.800.888.1300. We will send you an application to fill out and return to us with a copy or copies of your eligibility documentation.
  • Download and fill out an application. Attach a copy or copies of eligibility documentation. After signing the completed application, mail it with your proof of eligibility documents to Midco, PO Box 5010, Sioux Falls, SD 57117-9908.


Directory Assistance Exemption

Midco provides free directory assistance calls to those with impaired vision or a qualifying disability that prevents the use of a phone book or other means of locating a telephone number. Midco telephone subscribers are eligible to receive this exemption. Fill out an application today!

Note: this exemption applies to 411 directory assistance charges only. Long distances charges and calls to the operator (0) are not included.
