Midco Expands Fiber Network to Greater Detroit Lakes Area

Detroit Lakes, MN: In 2021, Midco began construction on 120 miles of new fiber along Minnesota’s Highway 10 corridor, bringing the Midco Fiber Network to more than 10,000 homes and businesses in the communities of Audubon, Lake Park, Hawley and Detroit Lakes.

Midco’s FTTP (Fiber-to-the-Premises) design will deliver a best-in-class symmetrical, low-latency internet connection capable of up to 5 Gbps.

In the Audubon and Lake Park communities, construction is complete and fiber internet services are now available! To sign up for services or learn more, visit the link below.

Construction will resume in Hawley and Detroit Lakes early this spring. Midco teams will construct another 16 miles of fiber in Hawley and another 55 miles in Detroit Lakes throughout the 2022 construction season. Midco will roll out services as construction progresses, with the intent that all Hawley and Detroit Lakes homes and businesses have access to Midco’s Fiber Network by the end of 2022 and 2023, respectively.

“Our commitment to Minnesotans living along the Highway 10 corridor is to deliver the best technology available for a great online experience now and into the future. Fiber optimizes our network for speed and reliability, using the power of light for streaming, gaming, work-from-home, online learning - really anything our customers want to keep them connected to the world,” said Midco Chief Technology Officer Jon Pederson.

In addition to fiber internet, Midco also provides TV, phone, networking and advertising services. To find more information or preregister for services, visit Midco.com/DetroitLakes.
