Midcontinent Communications Groundbreaking Will Highlight the Company’s $100-Million-Plus Investment in North Dakota

West Fargo, ND: On May 28, Midcontinent Communications® will host a groundbreaking event at its West Fargo offices. Construction is underway at the facility, which will more than double in size to accommodate 120 new employees the company is adding over a five-year period. Midcontinent® is investing more than $100 million in the Fargo area and throughout North Dakota in 2014 and 2015.

Local members of the media are invited to attend the groundbreaking event on May 28 at 3 p.m. at 50 22nd Street East in West Fargo. The following officials have been invited to speak:

  • Senator Heidi Heitkamp
  • Congressman Kevin Cramer
  • Jessica Lee, Regional Director for Senator John Hoeven
  • Commissioner Al Anderson, North Dakota Department of Commerce
  • Mayor Rich Mattern, West Fargo
  • Mayor Tim Mahoney, Fargo

"Midcontinent is investing an estimated $72 million in Fargo alone from 2014 through 2016, so we can deliver reliable, high-quality services that both residential and business customers are demanding,” says Justin Forde, Director of Public Affairs in North Dakota for Midcontinent. “While we just began construction within the city of Fargo last year, we have a rich history in North Dakota. We’re proud to provide robust entertainment options and advanced technology that encourages innovation and opportunity for our great state.”

Midcontinent began offering residential and business services in the city of Fargo in August 2014 and is expanding further into the city throughout 2015. Construction for the entire city is expected to be completed by fall 2016. The company has served customers in West Fargo since 2007 and Moorhead since 2009, as well as many other communities near Fargo and throughout North Dakota.
