Midco Sports Network Wins Sevareid Award for Journalistic Excellence

May 20, 2016 – Sioux Falls, SD: Midco Sports Network has earned regional recognition from the Midwest Broadcast Journalists Association, which represents a six-state region of news and sports journalists. The Eric Sevareid Awards are named for the North Dakota-born journalist who attended the University of Minnesota and served as a well-known CBS radio and television correspondent.

MidcoSN® won the Award of Merit, Large Market Television for “Mini Mascot,” which aired on Midco Sports Magazine. The award was presented at the association’s annual banquet and awards ceremony on April 9 in Bloomington, MN.

“The ‘Mini Mascot’ story is a great example of the in-depth, behind-the-scenes sports journalism produced by Midco Sports Magazine, along with our other original programs,” said Mark Powell, VP of Business Development for MidcoSN and Midco Business. “MidcoSN is serious about telling great sports stories in our region, and it’s wonderful that this story and our team are recognized.”

This is the third year MidcoSN has received honors at the Eric Sevareid Awards, which recognize the best work of broadcast news operations and journalists in small, medium and large markets in Minnesota, Wisconsin, the Dakotas, Iowa and Nebraska.
