Manage TiVo Anywhere

Download the TiVo® app today from the App Store® or Google Play™ so you can manage your TiVo® DVR from anywhere at any time.1 The TiVo app lets you:

  • Browse and schedule recordings.
  • Control live TV – just like your remote control.
  • Search for shows and browse your guide.
  • Watch live TV or recorded shows on your mobile device (while on your home network).
  • Manage your TiVo OnePass™ selections.

Before you download the app, make sure:

  • Your TiVo is registered online.
  • Your mobile device Wi-Fi is on and connected to the same network as your TiVo DVR.
  1. Download the free TiVo app from the App Store® or Google Play™.2
    • If you already have the app, make sure you’re running the latest version, with no updates pending. 
  2. Launch the TiVo app on your mobile device, and sign in using your TiVo.com username and password.
  3. If prompted, select the primary TiVo box to use with the app (if you have more than one compatible box on your home network).
    • If this is the first time you're setting up the app, streaming setup will begin.
    • If you have just upgraded the app, start streaming setup by going to Settings and choosing Setup.
  4. Follow the on-screen prompts to set up in-home streaming, which means you can stream recordings to your device when you’re connected to your home network.3
  5. Browse the app to find the programs that interest you and set up recordings.
  1. Open the TiVo app on your mobile device. 
  2. Select the search icon on your screen, and search for the show or movie you want to record, using the keyboard to type in the title, actor or keywords for the show. 
  3. Tap the show, and then select either Record this episode or Create a OnePass.
  4. Choose your preferred recording options, and then select either Record with these options or Create OnePass

You can manage your OnePass searches, recordings and To Do List within the TiVo app.

Android Devices: Tap the Menu icon at the top left of your screen, and then Manage.

Apple Devices: Select Manage from the menu at the bottom of your device screen.

Next:

  • Tap the To Do List tab, and tap a show title to review details.
  • Tap the OnePass Manager tab to see your OnePass searches. Tap a series title to modify options. To change the priority of your searches, simply drag and drop your searches into the order you want.
  • Tap the Recording Activity tab, and then select a title to learn why a show didn’t record.

Midco customers can download recorded programs through the TiVo app to their phone or tablet.

While connected to your home Wi-Fi network3, select a recording in My Shows and tap Get. The recording will download to your device.

Notes:

  • Due to copyright rules, some content can’t be downloaded. These recordings are usually marked with a red circle with a slash through it.
  • You cannot download shows outside of your home internet connection.
  • You can watch downloaded shows only on the TiVo app. If you uninstall the TiVo app, your downloads will be deleted from your device.
  • Customers using the classic TiVo Experience may not be able to download or stream content without additional equipment. See which experience you have, and contact us with questions. 
Android Devices
  1. Open the TiVo app on your mobile device.
  2. Tap My Shows at the bottom of your tablet screen. Or on your smartphone, tap the menu icon, and choose My Shows.
  3. Select the show you want to watch from the list of recorded shows.
  4. Tap Get to download the recording to your mobile device.
Apple Devices
  1. Open the TiVo app on your mobile device, and tap My Shows.
  2. Make sure to select the On DVR tab. This shows a list of all recorded shows available to stream.
  3. Tap the show you want to watch.
  4. Tap Get to download the recording to your mobile device.

Midco customers can stream recordings and live TV from their TiVo to a phone or tablet that’s connected to your home Wi-Fi network. 3 

Note: In-home streaming is only available on your home's Midco network. Streaming via TiVo is not available outside your home internet connection. Some recordings can’t be streamed due to the program provider’s own copyright protection. These recordings are usually marked with a red circle with a slash through it.

Android Devices
  1. Open the TiVo app on your mobile device.
  2. Tap My Shows at the bottom of your tablet screen. Or on your smartphone, tap the menu icon, and choose My Shows.
  3. Select the show you want to watch from the list of recorded shows.
  4. Tap Watch Now and then Watch on Tablet/Phone.
Apple Devices
  1. Open the TiVo app on your mobile device, and tap My Shows.
  2. Make sure to select the On DVR tab. This shows a list of all recorded shows available to stream.
  3. Tap the show you want to watch.
  4. Tap Watch Now and then Watch on iPad/iPhone.

Midco customers can stream recordings and live TV from their TiVo to a phone or tablet connected to your home Wi-Fi network.3

  3. Tap and select the show you want to watch.
  4. Tap Watch Now.
Apple Devices
  1. Open the TiVo app on your mobile device.
  2. Tap the Guide button at the bottom of the iPhone or iPad to browse the program guide.
  3. Tap and select the show you want to watch.
  4. Tap Watch Now and then Watch on iPad/iPhone.

You can use the TiVo app to control your TiVo DVR or TiVo Mini, just like you would use your remote control. You can navigate the TiVo menus, fast forward, rewind, pause, see instant replay, record or give Thumbs Up and Thumbs Down ratings.

Note: The remote control functionality is not available if you're away from your home network. Voice control functionality isn’t available through the TiVo app.

Android Devices
  1. Open the TiVo app on your mobile device.
  2. Tap the remote icon on your tablet or the menu icon at the top right of your smartphone screen.
  3. Choose remote control, and use the remote buttons to navigate the TiVo menus and control playback. Note: You may need to scroll down to see all the buttons.
  4. Tap the remote icon or the Pause icon to hide the remote control buttons.
Apple Devices
  1. Open the TiVo app on your mobile device.
  2. Tap the remote icon at the top right of the screen.
  3. Tap Buttons on your iPad or the remote icon on your iPhone to show the remote control buttons. Note: You may need to scroll down to see all the buttons.
  4. Tap the remote icon again to hide the remote control buttons.

Use the TiVo app to share what you’re watching now. Select any show on the app – whether it’s on live now, recorded or upcoming – and tap the Share button. Choose how you want to share your message from the available social media apps or through email or message.
