Manage Passcodes

Midco SmartHOME™ lets you customize your system to your family — creating custom passcodes to verify your identity in case of an alarm and to use with the touchscreen and app.

Secret Word

Also known as your central station passcode, your secret word is used to confirm your identity over the phone. If an alarm is triggered, when the central monitoring station calls to verify the alarm, they’ll ask for this passcode.

You can view and modify your secret word in the Midco SmartHOME™ app and the subscriber portal.

In the App
  1. Log in to the Midco SmartHOME app on your mobile device.
  2. Tap More and then Account.
  3. Select Secret Word.
  4. Enter your master four-digit passcode for account verification, and tap OK.
  5. Review your current secret word.
    • If you’d like to modify it, delete what is currently there and enter a new word. Tap Save.
    • If you’d like to keep your current secret word, tap Cancel to go back.
On the Touchscreen
  1. Tap the Settings app, and then Advanced Settings.
  2. Select Security Secret Word and then Next.
  3. The secret word is displayed. To change it, tap the Secret Word field and type your new secret word using the displayed keyboard.
  4. Tap Done to save your changes.

Passcodes

Every Midco SmartHOME system has a master four-digit passcode (or access code) that you need to arm or disarm your security system. A user with this master passcode can see, create and manage all other passcodes.

You can create multiple passcodes to track who enters and leaves your home. For example:

  • Create individual passcodes for your family members.
  • Add a passcode for a friend who’s watering your plants while you’re out of town.
  • Set up a passcode for the dog walker or a babysitter. You can even set the code to only be valid for certain days of the week.
  • Have a handyman coming to take a look at the sink? Create one for him to use, and then delete it after he leaves.

The Duress passcode is used if an intruder forces you to arm or disarm your system or access your security settings. Rather than entering your regular passcode, enter the Duress code. You’ll be granted full access to your touchscreen, but a silent alarm is immediately sent to the central monitoring station, and police are dispatched.

By default, the Duress code is disabled. To enable and manage your duress code, follow the steps below to modify passcodes in the app, on the touchscreen or in the online portal.
