Wireless Setup

Below is related information and resources for wireless network setup on wireless devices.

An additional option for Midco® Cable TV subscribers is to locate the Tech Tips folder in the On Demand main menu.

Your wireless network name, or SSID, and wireless network key will be required. Both items are available to you by signing into My Account. Once signed in, click the View Network Key link located under the Internet section to display the information.

If you are unable to configure a device or if it is not listed below, please contact your device provider or manufacturer for additional support.

Handheld Tutorials

Android Tablet

  1. From Home screen, tap the Apps icon (located at bottom edge of screen)
  2. Swipe to locate Settings then tap it
  3. Tap Wi-Fi
  4. Tap your wireless network name or the network name you would like to join
  5. Enter the wireless network key, or password
  6. Tap Connect
  7. Once connected and ready to browse, it will show Connected under the wireless network name
  8. Tap the Home icon (located at bottom edge of screen) to return to your Home screen

Apple iPad/iPad 2/iPad 3/ iPad Mini  

 

 

  1. Have your wireless network name, or SSID, and wireless network key available. If you have a wireless modem from Midco, both of these items are available through My Account by signing in. After signing in, click the View Network Key link under the Internet section.
  2. On your iPad tap Settings icon.
  3. Tap Wi-Fi.
  4. Confirm Wi-Fi is set to ON - if not, tap OFF to enable it.
  5. Wi-Fi Networks will show available wireless networks.
  6. Tap the wireless network name (SSID) you would like to join.
  7. Enter the wireless network key, or password .
  8. Tap Join.
  9. Tap OFF next to Ask to Join Networks to automatically join networks devices has joined previously.

Apple iPod Touch  

 

 

  1. Have your wireless network name, or SSID, and wireless network key available. If you have a wireless modem from Midco, both of these items are available through My Account. After signing in, click the View Network Key link under the Internet section. 
  2. On your iPod Touch tap Settings icon.
  3. Tap Wi-Fi.
  4. Confirm Wi-Fi is set to ON - if not, tap OFF to enable it.
  5. Wi-Fi Networks will show available wireless networks.
  6. Tap the wireless network name (SSID) you would like to join.
  7. Enter the wireless network key, or password.
  8. Tap Join.
  9. Tap OFF next to Ask to Join Networks to automatically join networks device has joined previously.
  10. Once connected, press Home button to return to Home screen. 

Amazon Kindle  

 

 

  1. Have your wireless network name, or SSID, and wireless network key available. Both items are available through My Account.  After signing in, click the View Network Key link under the Internet section.
  2. On your Kindle press the Home button, then press Menu button.
  3. Use the 5-way controller to select Settings.
  4. Select View next to Wi-Fi Settings to show available wireless networks. 
    • May have to wait a moment as the Kindle detects networks in range.
    • May have to answer Yes to turn the wireless on.
  5. Choose connect next to the wireless network name (SSID) you would like to join.
  6. Enter the wireless network key, or password.
    • Use the SYM key to enter any numbers or symbols in the password, and the Shift for uppercase characters and select Submit.
  7. Once connected, press the Home button to return to the home screen.

Amazon Kindle Fire  

 

 

  1. Have your wireless network name, or SSID, and wireless network key available. Both items are available through My Account.  After signing in, click the View Network Key link under the Internet section.
  2. On your Amazon Kindle Fire tap Quick Settings icon (top right hand corner of Home screen).
  3. Tap Wi-Fi.
  4. Ensure Wireless Network is set to ON - if not, tap ON to enable it
    • A list of networks will appear. It may take a moment for the Kindle Fire to detect networks in range. If networks don't appear, tap OFF then ON next to Wireless Networking to refresh the list. 
  5. Tap the wireless network name (SSID) you would like to join
    Tip: When viewing Kindle Fire in landscape (horizontal) view, you may need to scroll through the list of available networks, using your finger to swipe through the list.
  6. Enter the wireless network key, or password, and tap Connect
    Tip: Tap the 123!? key to enter numbers or symbols.

    Tap the ABC key to return to the regular keyboard.

    Tap the Shift key (up arrow) for uppercase letters.
  7. Once connected, tap the Home icon in the lower left corner to return to the home screen.

Note: Once connected to a wireless network, Kindle Fire automatically connects to it again whenever that network is in range. If more than one previously used network is in range, your Kindle Fire automatically connects to the most recently used network.

Google Chromebook  

 

 

  1. Have your wireless network name, or SSID, and wireless network key available. Both items are available through My Account.  After signing in, click the View Network Key link under the Internet section.
  2. On your Chromebook click network icon either chromebook1 or chromebook2 in the lower-right corner of your screen.
  3. Select the No Network option to provide a list of in-range available networks.
  4. Once menu loads, if you see chromebook3, wireless is off.
    • To change this simply click on chromebook3 until you see chromebook4 indicating Wi-Fi is enabled.
  5. Select name of network you wish to connect to from list of available networks.
  6. Enter wireless network key, or password, in Password window.
    • There is an Icon to the right of this box that will allow you to see the password or have it hidden.
  7. Click Connect to confirm password.
  8. To confirm connection, click on chromebook1 icon and where you previously saw No Network in menu it will now show Connected to “Name of Network”.

Nook Color  

 

 

  1. Have your wireless network name, or SSID, and wireless network key available. Both items are available through My Account.  After signing in, click the View Network Key link under the Internet section.
  2. Turn on the Nook and press the Nook button.
  3. Tap settings in the Quick Nav bar.
  4. Under Device Settings tap Wireless.
  5. Make sure Wi-Fi is set to On. If not, tap Off to enable Wi-Fi.
  6. Wireless networks will show the available wireless networks.
  7. Tap wireless network name, or SSID, you would like to join and tap Connect.
  8. Enter the wireless network key, or password, and tap Connect.
  9. "Connected to the Internet" will display beneath the wireless network name once connected.
  10. Press the Nook button to return to the home screen.
Game System Tutorials

Microsoft XBOX  

 

 

  1. Have your wireless network name, or SSID, and wireless network key available. Both items are available through My Account.  After signing in, click the View Network Key link under the Internet section.
  2. Confirm Xbox is connected to television and TV and Xbox are powered on.
  3. Press the Xbox Guide button on the Xbox controller.
  4. Press the right arrow button to highlight System Settings.
  5. Press the green A button to enter System Settings menu.
  6. Arrow down to Network Settings and press the green A button.
  7. Use arrow buttons to highlight Configure Network.
  8. Press the green A button.
  9. Highlight Scan for Networks.
  10. Press the green A button.
  11. Select Wireless Network will show available wireless networks.
  12. Use up or down arrow buttons to highlight the wireless network name (SSID) you would like to join.
  13. Press the green A button.
  14. Enter the wireless network key, or password.
  15. Press the green A button to connect.
  16. Once connected, press the Xbox Guide button to return to the home screen.

Xbox One

  1. Have your wireless network name, or SSID, and wireless network key available. Both items are available through My Account.  After signing in, click the View Network Key link under the Internet section.
  2. Press 'Menu' button on the Xbox One controller.
  3. Select 'Settings'.
  4. Select 'Network'.
  5. Select 'Setup wireless network' on left side of screen.
  6. Locate and select correct SSID (wireless network name) under 'Which one's yours?'
    a. Enter wireless network password.

Nintendo Wii  

 

 

  1. Have your wireless network name, or SSID, and wireless network key available. Both items are available through My Account.  After signing in, click the View Network Key link under the Internet section.
  2. Confirm Wii is connected to television and TV and Wii are powered on.
  3. From the Wii main menu, click on Wii Options button in lower left hand corner using the Wii controller A button.
  4. Click on the Wii Settings icon.
  5. Click on the right arrow in the Wii System Settings menu.
  6. Click on the Internet menu bar when it appears.
  7. Click on Connection Settings menu bar and click on Connection 1 (or any connection that has None listed).
  8. Click on Wireless Connection.
  9. Click on Search for An Access Point.
  10. Click OK when it shows “Choose the access point you want to connect to”.
  11. Wireless Connection will show available wireless networks.
  12. Use up or down arrow buttons to highlight the wireless network name (SSID) you would like to join.
  13. Press the A button.
  14. Click in the password or key field to enter the wireless network key, or password.
  15. Click OK twice to exit the keyboard and confirm password entered.
  16. Click OK to save the settings.
  17. Click OK to begin a wireless connection test.
  18. Click on Use this Connection.
  19. Once connected, press the home key on the Wii controller to return to the Wii main menu.

Sony Playstation 3  

 

 

  1. Have your wireless network name, or SSID, and wireless network key available. Both items are available through My Account.  After signing in, click the View Network Key link under the Internet section.
  2. Confirm Playstation is connected to television and TV and Playstation are powered on.
  3. From the home menu of the Playstation 3, use the right arrow button on the Playstation 3 controller to highlight the Settings menu, which looks like a toolbox.
  4. Use the down arrow button to highlight Network Settings.
  5. Press the blue X button.
  6. Use the up and down arrow buttons to highlight Internet Connection and confirm it shows Enabled – if not, press the blue X button then arrow up to highlight Enabled then press the blue X button to enable it.
  7. Use the down arrow button to highlight Internet Connection Settings.
  8. Press the blue X button.
  9. Press the blue X button again to confirm you want to change or setup an Internet connection.
  10. Highlight the Easy setup option and press the blue X button.
  11. Use the down arrow button to highlight Wireless and press the blue X button.
  12. In the WLAN Settings menu, use up arrow button to highlight Scan.
  13. Press the blue X button.
  14. WLAN Settings will show available wireless networks.
  15. Use up and down arrows to highlight the wireless network name (SSID) you would like to join.
    Tip: Take note of the security type listed (WPA2-PSK for example) as this will be asked in a following screen.
  16. Press the blue X button.
  17. Press the blue X button again to confirm the wireless network name (SSID).
  18. Use up and down arrows to highlight security type mentioned previously.
  19. Press right arrow to continue.
  20. Enter the wireless network key, or password.
    Tip: Press the blue X button to bring up an on-screen keyboard. Press the Start button to exit the keyboard.
  21. The wireless network key will display as eight stars regardless of its actual length.
  22. Press the right arrow to continue.
  23. Skip any additional settings if prompted.
  24. Press the blue X button to confirm the wireless settings entered.
  25. Press the blue X button to begin a wireless network connection test.
  26. Once connected, press the Playstation button to return to the home screen.

Play Station 4

  1. Have your wireless network name, or SSID, and wireless network key available. Both items are available through My Account.  After signing in, click the View Network Key link under the Internet section.
  2. Select 'Network'.
  3. Select 'Set Up Internet Connection'.
  4. Select 'Use Wi-Fi'.
    a. Select 'Easy'.
  5. Choose correct SSID (wireless network name) from the list.
  6. Choose the default settings for any remaining selections.
Mobile Phone Tutorials

Apple iPhone

  1. Have your wireless network name, or SSID, and wireless network key available. Both items are available through My Account.  After signing in, click the View Network Key link under the Internet section.
  2. On your iPhone tap Settings icon.
  3. Tap Wi-Fi.
  4. Confirm Wi-Fi is set to ON - if not, tap OFF to enable it.
  5. Wi-Fi Networks will show available wireless networks.
  6. Tap the wirless network name (SSID) you would like to join.
  7. Enter the wireless network key, or password.
  8. Tap Join.
  9. Tap OFF next to Ask to Join Networks to automatically join networks device has joined previously.
  10. Once connected, Press Home button to return to Home screen.

Android Phone

TV / Blu-Ray Player Tutorials

Vizio Smart TV  

 

 

  1. Have your wireless network name, or SSID, and wireless network key available. Both items are available through My Account.  After signing in, click the View Network Key link under the Internet section.
  2. Confirm TV is powered on.
  3. Press Menu on the TV remote control.
  4. Use the arrow buttons to highlight Network.
  5. Press the OK button.
  6. Network Connections will show available wireless networks.
  7. Use up and down arrows to highlight the wireless network name (SSID) you would like to join.
  8. Press the blue OK button.
  9. Enter the wireless network key, or password.
    Tip: Use the onscreen keyboard or if available, the keyboard on the TV remote.
  10. Use up and down arrows to highlight Connect.
  11. Press the OK button.
  12. Once connected, press the menu button to exit menus.

Vizio Smart Blu-Ray Player  

 

 

  1. Have your wireless network name, or SSID, and wireless network key available. Both items are available through My Account.  After signing in, click the View Network Key link under the Internet section.
  2. Confirm Blu-Ray is connected to TV and both are powered on.
  3. Use left and right arrow button on Blu-ray player remote to highlight Settings.
  4. Press the OK/Select button.
  5. Use left and right arrow buttons to highlight Network.
  6. Press the OK/Select button.
  7. Use up and down arrow buttons to highlight Wireless.
  8. Press the OK/Select button.
  9. Use up and down arrow buttons to highlight Network List.
  10. Press the OK/Select button.
  11. Network List will show available wireless networks.
  12. Use up and down arrows to highlight the wireless network name (SSID) you would like to join.
  13. Press the blue OK button.
  14. Enter the wireless network key, or password.
    Tip: Use the onscreen keyboard or if available, the keyboard on the remote.
  15. Use up and down arrows to highlight Connect.
  16. Press the OK/Select button.
  17. Once connected, press the menu button to exit menus.
Operating System Tutorials

Windows 7  

 

 

  1. Have your wireless network name, or SSID, and wireless network key available. Both items are available through My Account.  After signing in, click the View Network Key link under the Internet section.
  2. From the desktop, click on the wireless network icon, which looks like five signal bars, in the lower right corner.
  3. Wireless Network Connection section will show available wireless networks.
  4. Click on the wireless network name (SSID) you would like to join.
  5. Click Connect.
  6. Enter the wireless network key, or password, in the Connect to a Network window.
  7. Click OK to confirm the password.
  8. Once connected, the wireless network icon will show Connected if you mouse over it. The wireless icon in the lower right will indicate connection strength.

Mac OS X  

 

 

  1. Have your wireless network name, or SSID, and wireless network key available. Both items are available through My Account.  After signing in, click the View Network Key link under the Internet section.
  2. From the desktop, click on the Airport icon, which looks like radio waves, in upper right corner.
  3. If it shows Airport Off, click on Turn Airport On to enable it.
  4. Airport section will show available wireless networks.
  5. Click on the wireless network name (SSID) you would like to join.
  6. Enter the wireless network key, or password, in the Password window.
  7. Click OK to confirm the password.
  8. Once connected, the Airport list will show a check mark next to the connected wireless network name. The Airport symbol in the upper right corner will indicate connection strength.

Windows 10 

  1. Have your wireless network name, or SSID, and wireless network key available. Both items are available through My Account.  After signing in, click the View Network Key link under the Internet section.
  2. From the desktop, click on the wireless network icon, which looks like radio signal bars, in the lower right corner.
  3. Wireless Network Connection section will show available wireless networks.
  4. Click on the wireless network name (SSID) you would like to join.
  5. Click Connect.
  6. Enter the wireless network key, or password, in the Enter The Network Security Key window.
  7. Click Next to confirm the password.
  8. Once connected, the wireless network icon will show Connected if you mouse over it. The wireless icon in the lower right will indicate connection strength.
