Self-Installation Tips & Tutorials

You don’t have to wait for an appointment, and you don’t have to be a techie. We provide simple, do-it-yourself steps and video tutorials, so you can install and activate your equipment.

  • If you’re a new customer, you’ll receive a mailed self-install kit or you can pick it up from one of our Customer Experience Centers.
  • If you’re a customer moving services to a new address, just bring all current Midco® equipment (cable boxes, modems, power cords and remotes) to your new location.

Installation Instructions

If you’ve already chosen the option to self-install, make sure your computer or TV, and cable or power outlets are accessible prior to beginning installation. If you experience issues during your self-installation, please call our Customer Service team at 1.800.888.1300 or visit Midco.com/Contact for chat or email support.

DVR or HD Receiver (HDTV)

Self-Install Kit Inclusions

If anything is missing please contact us at 1.800.888.1300, or stop by your local Customer Experience Center.

  1. Before you begin, write down the Serial Number (Activation Number) located on the back of the DVR or HD Receiver. Also locate and write down your Midco® Account Number. These are needed for activation in Step 6.
  2. Connect a coax cable from your cable wall outlet to the Cable In (RF In) connection on your DVR or HD Receiver. Make sure the connection is finger tight.
  3. Connect the HDMI cable from your HDMI connection on your HDTV to the HDMI connection on your DVR or HD Receiver.
  4. Plug the power cord into your DVR or HD Receiver, then into an electrical outlet. Turn your TV on. Make sure the volume is on.
  5. Using your TV remote change the TV input setting to the proper HDMI input used to connect the DVR or HD Receiver. If you do not receive a picture after completing the activation (Step 6), you may need to switch the HDMI input on your TV.
  6. Enter the serial number below and select the Activate Now button. Your DVR or HD Receiver might have working channels but NEEDS to be activated to ensure you receive the correct channels in your video package. If you have questions or concerns please contact a Customer Service Representative at 1.800.888.1300.

  1. Your DVR or HD Receiver may take up to 15 minutes to begin downloading the proper channel line-up. Visit Midco.com/channellineups to view the channels available in your area. Full program guide information may take up to 1 hour to download.

    Using your Midco remote to operate your DVR or HD Receiver, press the Guide button to scroll through channels and confirm that channels provided in your video package are working.

    If the DVR or HD Receiver will not power on or your authorized channels are not showing, please call 1.800.888.1300 to talk to a Customer Service Representative.

Don’t Forget to Program the Midco Remote Control.

HD Digital Adapter Equpment

  2. Connect a coax cable from your cable wall outlet to the Cable In (RF In) connection on your HD Digital Adapter. Make sure the connection is finger tight.
  3. Connect the HDMI cable from your HDMI connection on your HDTV to the HDMI connection on your HD Digital Adapter.
  4. Plug the power cord into your HD Digital Adapter, then into an electrical outlet. Turn your TV on. Make sure the volume is on.

  3. Connect the coax cable from the Cable In (RF In) connection on your TV to the To TV (RF Out) connection on your Digital Adapter. Plug the Signal Receiver for the remote control into the IR In port and mount the receiver to the TV (Optional).
  4. Plug the power cord into your Digital Adapter, then into an electrical outlet.
  5. Turn your TV on. Make sure the volume is on. Using your TV remote change the TV input setting to Channel 3 (or 4). Set the switch on the back of the Adapter to Channel 3 (or 4).
  6. Check the green light on the front of the Digital Adapter. If it’s blinking twice, you’re ready for activation. Enter the serial number below and select the Activate Now button. Your Digital Adapter might have working channels but NEEDS to be activated to ensure you receive the correct channels in your video package. If you have questions or concerns please contact a Customer Service Representative at 1.800.888.1300.
