Touchscreen

Control Your Security

Your in-home touchscreen is the heart of your security system. You can arm or disarm your system, see a real-time view of your system’s status and manage your security system and devices. See individual Midco SmartHOME equipment support pages to find steps on how to manage your home security system equipment using your touchscreen.

The main screen is the Home screen. From this screen, you can navigate through menus by tapping buttons to access the function you want to access. To return to this screen at any time, press the Home button.

Security Status Header

Displayed in the upper left hand side of the touchscreen, this tells you whether the system is armed or disarmed. Tap this header to arm or disarm your system.

This is also where any troubles that would prevent arming (such as a door being open) will display. The LED turns amber when a sensor is faulted or tripped.

System & Zone Status Header

Displayed in the upper right hand side of the touchscreen, this only shows if:

  • There is a connectivity or power issue with the touchscreen
  • A sensor or device goes down (such as due to a battery failure)
  • A sensor is being tampered with (such as the cover being opened)

When the system reports trouble, it will sound an audible alert regularly to ensure that you’re aware of the problem. If the header displays, tap the header to show the Troubles list, which displays all the current troubles with the touchscreen and sensors. Then:

  • Tap the red exclamation point bubble to see resolution information. Tap Return to go back to the full Troubles list.
  • Tap OK to mark the trouble as acknowledged. This will mute the audible alerts for 12 hours.

View the touchscreen user guide to see common troubles and what to do for each situation.

Content Area

This contains the interactive functionality of your touchscreen, and is where apps are displayed. When you use or modify an app, this is where the menus and tools are displayed.

Available apps will depend on the equipment connected to your Midco SmartHOME security system. Your Home screen displays a maximum of 10 touchscreen apps at a time. Some available apps include:

  • Lights
  • Door Locks
  • Cameras
  • Thermostats
  • Security
  • Settings

Use the Settings app to access a variety of operations to configure and maintain your security system.

  1. Tap the Settings app on your Home screen.
  2. Enter your four-digit master passcode.

In the Settings app, you’ll see a list of settings options to customize your touchscreen. Categories include:

  • Touchscreen – Access your screensaver, sound and button configurations, and more.
  • Security – Manage passcodes and the default arming application, and perform an alarm test.
  • Sensors & Zones – Change the zone or sensor orders.
  • Home Devices – Add, edit and delete devices that control cameras, lights and more.
  • Apps – Add, remove and re-order apps.
  • Advanced Settings – Access your secret word, connectivity and account information, or reboot your touchscreen.

The touchscreen is powered by a back-up battery and A/C power. When power is lost, the touchscreen places itself in Low Power mode. This emergency backup mode is designed to ensure your security system continues to communicate alarms during unforeseen power outages.

When in low power mode, the lights on the touchscreen’s buttons will go dark, and the touchscreen will use cellular connection to communicate alarms instead of your internet (since in most power loss situations, your modem and router will be out, as well). Alarms, arming and disarming the system will go through to the central monitoring station, though other non-alarm events will not go through.

You can manually trip an alarm in the event of an emergency.

  1. Press the Panic button (the red button with a white shield) on the lower front of the touchscreen.
  2. Select an option on the Emergency screen.
    • Tap Fire to send an alarm for emergency fire assistance. The touchscreen sounds a repeating, high-pitched chime.
    • Tap Medical to send an alarm for emergency medical assistance. The touchscreen sounds an audible, repeating, triple beep signal.
    • Tap Police to send an alarm for police assistance. By default, the touchscreen does not issue an audible signal. Tap the Police Panic in Progress alert displayed on the touchscreen to sound an audible, continuous, high-pitched chime.

If you need to alert police with a silent alarm but still have access to your touchscreen, use your Duress passcode.
