Homes and businesses in six North Dakota communities, including Devils Lake, will now have access to Midco Gig. Midco Gig is 35 times faster than the average high-speed internet and available at an affordable price.
Midco is leaping ahead with Fiber Forward, an expansive investment that uses the company’s robust fiber network and next gen fiber tech to bring 10 Gig (10G) speeds to the region. Over the next few years, more than 150,000 homes and businesses throughout South Dakota will benefit from the future-proof investment.
The Midco Foundation has awarded more than $100,000 to 69 nonprofits, schools and government organizations across the Midwest. These grant recipients have been recognized as positive changemakers in their 33 respective communities. The grants are part of an ongoing commitment to be a force for good in the communities that Midco serves.
Midco began construction in April to expand its high-speed wired broadband network to Greenfield, MN, which will connect more than 1,000 homes and businesses by the end of the year. Midco’s FTTP (Fiber-to-the-Premises) design will bring residents a best-in-class symmetrical, low-latency connection capable of up to 5 Gbps.
Reliable internet is synonymous with quality of life, so Midco is participating in the Federal Communications Commission’s Emergency Broadband Benefit program. The EBB program provides support for broadband services and certain devices to help low-income households stay connected during the COVID-19 pandemic.
