Midco Gig

By the end of 2017, the entire Midco service area – from the region’s smallest towns to its largest cities – will enjoy gigabit internet speeds. For years, we’ve delivered gigabit speeds and higher (up to eight terabits per second) through direct fiber connections to larger business customers. Now, Midco Gig will expand speeds for consumers and smaller businesses.

First Stop: Fargo and Sioux Falls Areas

Since 2014, we’ve been installing state-of-the-art technology that’s prepared the Fargo Moorhead West Fargo area to be the first ready for Midco Gig in 2016. We'll also roll out gigabit internet by the end of the year in the Sioux Falls area. Exact launch dates have yet to be determined. Other upcoming cities could be Bismarck, Grand Forks and Rapid City. Watch for more details here!

You expect better performance and more speed from Midco technology. Right now, we’re preparing our Northern Plains Network™ to make Midco Gig happen.

Midco is among the first providers in North America to deploy Cisco technology. Following successful lab trials, Midco started field trials of its gigabit internet service in Fargo this spring. The new DOCSIS 3.1 modems enable gigabit internet speeds without a direct fiber connection for the first time.

With our customers’ bandwidth usage doubling every 15 months, the new modems and technology proves Midco is ready for network demands now and in the future.
