Email Setup

Below is related information and resources for email setup on wireless devices.

An additional option for Midco® cable TV subscribers is to locate the Tech Tips folder in the On Demand main menu.

If you are unable to configure a device or if it is not listed below, please look through other phones for software with similar screens to your phone and, if it is not found, contact your device provider or manufacturer for additional support.

Tutorials

iOS

Auto Configuration

  1. Go to ios.midco.net.
  2. Enter the following information on the setup page:
    • Email Address: Full email address
    • Full Name: Name people will see the email coming from
    • Password: Email address password
  3. Tap Request Configuration.
  4. On the Install Profile screen, tap Install.
  5. On the Install Profile popup, tap Install Now.
  6. On the Profile Installed screen, tap Done.
  7. Open the Mail icon from the home screen to check your email.

Manual Configuration

  1. From the home screen, tap Settings .
  2. Tap Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
  3. From the Accounts section, tap Add Account.
  4. Choose Other .
  5. Tap Add Mail Account.
  6. On the New Account screen, enter the following information:
    • Name: Name as it will appear on outgoing emails
    • Address: Full email address
    • Password: Email address password
    • Description: Optional description of email account
  7. Tap Next.
  8. Tap POP.
  9. In the Incoming Mail Server section, enter the following information
    • Host Name: popa.midco.net
    • Username: Full email address
    • Password: Email address password
  10. In the Outgoing Mail Server section, enter the following information
    • Host Name: smtpa.midco.net
    • Username: Full email address
    • Password: Email address password
  11. Tap Save.
  12. From the Accounts screen, tap the email account you added.
  13. Tap Advanced
  14. Under Outgoing Mail Server, choose SMTP.
  15. Under Primary Server, tap smtpa.midco.net.
  16. In the Outgoing Mail Server section, confirm/enter the following information:
    • Host name: smtpa.midco.net
    • User Name: Full email address
    • Password: Email address password
    • Use SSL: ON
    • Authentication: Password
    • Server Port: 25 (or 465)
  17. Tap Done.
  18. Choose email account description (in the upper left corner).
  19. Tap Advanced.
  20. In the Deleted Messages section, confirm the following information:
    • Remove: After one week
  21. In the Incoming Settings section, confirm/enter the following information:
    • Use SSL: ON
    • Authentication: Password
    • Delete from server: Never
    • Server Port: 995
  22. Press the Home button to return to the home screen.
  23. Tap Mail to access your email inbox.

Android

Manual Configuration

  1. From the Home screen, choose the Apps icon (located at bottom edge of screen).
  2. Tap Email
  3. Enter the following:
    • Email Address: Full email address
    • Password: Email Address Password
  4. Select Next.
  5. Tap POP3.
  6. Enter the following:
    • Username: Full email address
    • Password: Email address password
    • Server: popa.midco.net
    • Port: 995
    • Security type: SSL/TLS
    • Delete Email From Server: When I delete from Inbox
    • Authentication Type (if presented): Auto
  7. Tap Next.
  8. Enter the following:
    • SMTP server: smtpa.midco.net
    • Port: 465
    • Security Type: STARTTLS
    • Require Signin: Checked
    • Username: Full email address
    • Password: Email address password
  9. Tap Next
  10. Under Inbox Checking Frequency, select options for preferences on new email.
  11. Tap Next.
  12. Enter an account name and outgoing name displayed on emails sent.
  13. Tap Finish.

Windows

Windows Phone

  1. Swipe left to get to the App list.
  2. Select Settings, then Email + Accounts.
  3. Select Add an account, and choose Other account.
  4. Type your full email address in the email address box.
  5. In the password box, enter your password. Your password will either be your account number or your custom created password.
  6. Select Sign in.
  7. Select Advanced. If the Advanced button doesn't appear, and your phone attempts to find the settings and fails, select Try again. It will fail to find the settings again, but the Advanced button will appear.
  8. Select Internet email account and enter the following information:
    • Account name: Name for account
    • Your name: Name that will show on emails sent
    • Incoming email server popa.midco.net
    • Port: 995 (some phone auto-populate this information)
    • Account Type: POP3
    • User name: Full email address
    • Password: Account number or customer created password
    • Outgoing (SMTP) email server: smtpa.midco.net
    • Port: 25 (Some phones auto-populate this information)
    • Outgoing server requires authentication: checked
    • Use the same user name and password for sending an email: checked
  9. Select Advanced settings and check the boxes for Require SSL for incoming email and Require SSL for outgoing email
  10. Choose Sign in

Windows Surface (Outlook 2013)

  1. Open Outlook 2013.
  2. Select File.
  3. Choose Info.
  4. Select Add Account.
  5. Enter the following information on the Auto Account Setup window:

    Add New Account
    • Your Name: Enter name as it should appear on emails
    • Email Address: Full email address
    • Password: Account number or customer password
    • Retype Password: Enter password again
  6. Select Next to complete setup.

 

Email auto configuration will use the following secure mail server settings:

  • Incoming Server: popa.midco.net
  • Incoming Server Port: 995
  • Outgoing Server: smtpa.midco.net
  • Outgoing Server Port: 587
  • Connection Type: TLS
  • Copy of Message Left on Server: Yes
  • Remove from Server after 14 days
Amazon

Amazon Kindle Fire HD

  1. From the home screen, tap Apps.
  2. Tap Email. If no email accounts are set up, it will go to the Add Account screen. If an email account is already set up, tap the menu button in the top right corner, and then choose Settings, and then Add Account.

  3. Tap Other Providers.
  4. Enter your first and last name in the Name field.
  5. Enter your full email address in the Email address field.
  6. Enter email password in the Password field.
  7. Enter a name to identify the email account in the Description field.
  8. Tap Manual setup.
  9. Choose POP3 at the top of the screen.
  10. Enter the following for incoming server settings
    • Username: full email address
    • POP 3 server: popa.midco.net
    • Security Type: SSL/TLS (accept all certificates)
    • Port: 995
    • Delete e-mail from server: Never
  11. On the Outgoing Server Settings screen, enter the following:
    • SMTP server: smtpa.midco.net
    • Security type: STARTTLS
    • Port: 25 (it may change to 587 after setup is complete)
    • Require sign-in: checked
    • Username: full email address
    • Password: email address password
  12. Tap Next.
  13. Tap Save.
Nook

Nook Color and Nook Tablet

  1. Tap Apps and then tap Email.
  2. On the email account setup screen, enter your email address and password for the account. (If you would like to see the password as you type it, check the Show Password box below the password field.)
  3. Tap Manual Setup.
  4. Choose POP for account type.
  5. Enter these incoming mail settings:
    • Username: full email address
    • Password
    • POP3 server: popa.midco.net
    • Security type: SSL or TLS
    • Port: 995
    • Delete email from server: Never
  6. Click Next.
  7. Enter these outgoing mail settings:
    • SMTP server: smtpa.midco.net
    • Security type: TLS
    • Port: 25
    • Require sign-in: should be checked
    • Username: full email address
    • Password
  8. Click Next.
  9. Set to check email every 5 minutes and click Next.
  10. Complete setup and click Done.
    • Email account: Midco.net
    • Email account name: Your name (IE. John Smith)

 

Email Program Tutorials

Mac Mail

  1. Connect your computer to Midco Xstream® service.
  2. From the desktop, click on the Mail app, which looks like a stamp.
  3. On the Welcome to Mail screen, enter your full name, email address and email password.
  4. Click Continue.
  5. On the incoming mail server screen, enter the following information:
    • Account type: POP
    • Description: (optional) what you want to name your account
    • Incoming Mail Server: popa.midco.net
    • Username: full email address
    • Password: email password
  6. Click Continue.
  7. On the Outgoing Mail Server screen, enter the following information:
    • Description: (optional) what you want to name your account
    • Ougoing Mail Server: smtpa.midco.net
    • Make sure Use only this server is checked.
    • Make sure Use Authentication is checked.
    • Username: full email address
    • Password: this should autopopulate with the password
  8. Click Continue.
  9. On the Account Summary screen, make sure Take Account Online is checked.
  10. Click Create.

Mozilla Thunderbird Auto Configuration

  1. Connect your computer to Midco Xstream® service.
  2. Open Mozilla Thunderbird.
  3. Click Create A New Account.
  4. Click Skip This And Use My Existing Email.
  5. On the Mail Account Setup window, enter the following information:
    • Your Name: Name as it will appear on outgoing emails
    • Address: Full email address
    • Password: Email address password
    • Remember Password: Checked
    • Click Continue.
    • Your email is now set up and can be accessed through the inbox option on the left hand menu.

Mozilla Thunderbird Manual Configuration

  1. Open Mozilla Thunderbird.
  2. Click Create A New Account.
  3. Click Skip This And Use My Existing Email.
  4. On the Mail Account Setup window, enter the following information:
    • Your Name: Name as it will appear on outgoing emails
    • Address: Full email address
    • Password: Email address password
    • Remember Password: Checked
  5. Click Continue.
  6. On the Mail Account Setup window, enter the following information:
    • Incoming: POP3
    • Incoming Server Hostname: popa.midco.net
    • Incoming Port: 995
    • Incoming SSL: SSL/TLS
    • Incoming Authentication: Normal Password
    • Outgoing: SMTP
    • Outgoing Server Hostname: smtpa.midco.net
    • Outgoing Port: 587
    • Outgoing SSL: STARTTLS
    • Outgoing Authentication: Normal Password
    • Username: Full email address
  7. Click Done.
  8. Your email is now set up and can be accessed through the inbox option on the left hand menu.

Outlook 2010 & 2013 Auto Configuration

  1. Connect your device to your Midco Xstream® service.
  2. Open Outlook.
  3. Click the File tab, and then select Info.
  4. Click Add Account
  5. Enter the following information:
    • Your Name: Name as it will appear on outgoing emails
    • Email Address: Full email address
    • Password: Email address password
    • Retype Password: Email address password
  6. Click Next.
  7. Auto setup configuration will complete the email setup process. When it's done, click Finish.

Outlook 2010 & 2013 Manual Configuration

  1. Open Outlook.
  2. Click the File tab, and then Info.
  3. Click Add Account.
  4. On the Auto Account Setup window, select Manually configure server settings or additional server types.
  5. Click Next.
  6. Confirm Internet Email is selected
  7. Click Next.
  8. On the Internet Email Settings window, enter the following information:
    • Name: Name as it will appear on outgoing emails
    • Address: Full email address
    • Account Type: POP3
    • Incoming Mail Server: pop.midco.net
    • Outgoing Mail Server: smtp.midco.net
    • User Name: Full email address
    • Password: Email address password
    • Remember Password: Checked
    • Do not check Require Logon Using Secure Password Authentication (SPA)
  9. Click Next.
  10. Click Finish on this page, and you are done.

Outlook Express

  1. Open Outlook Express.
  2. From the Tools menu, select Accounts.

  3. Remove your mail account.
    1. From the Accounts window, click on the Mail tab to show your mail accounts.
    2. Highlight your mail account, and select remove. (It may just be listed as Mail.)

    3. If you are not sure which mail account is your account, highlight the account and click Properties.
    4. Once the old e-mail account has been removed, you are ready to add your new mail account
  4. To add your new email account, select Add

  5. Select Mail on the side menu that pops up. This will bring you to the Internet Connection Wizard.

  6. Enter your display name (how you want your name to appear to mail recipients).
  7. Click Next.

  8. Click on the selection I already have an email that I'd like to use.
  9. Enter your new email address in the open field. (This was provided to you on a mailer we sent out.)
  10. Click Next.

  11. In the Email Server Names window, enter this information:
    • Make sure that POP3 is selected in the top field.
    • Incoming mail server field type: pop.midco.net
    • Outgoing mail server field type: smtp.midco.net
  12. Click Next.

  13. Enter your account name in the Internet Mail Logon window.
  14. Enter your email address in the Account Name field (i.e. johnsmith@midco.net).
  15. Enter your password you were provided in the Password field.
  16. Check the box in front of Remember Password, or you will need to enter the password each time you check your mail.
  17. Click Next.

  18. Click Finish. This will bring you back to the Accounts window, and your new mail account will show up.
  19. Close the window, and you're ready to send and receive email.

Vista

  1. Open Windows Mail.
  2. From the Tools menu, select Accounts.

  3. From the Accounts window, under your mail section, select your mail account.

  4. Select the Remove button to the right, and choose OK in the popup window. If you are not sure which is your account, highlight the mail account and click Properties. This will show you the email address.

  5. To add your new email account, select Add, and then choose Email Account.

  6. Click Next.
  7. Enter your display name (how you want your name to appear to mail recipient).

  9. Enter your full email address.

  11. This will bring you to the email servers window. Make sure that POP3 is selected in the top field.
  12. In the incoming mail server field, enter: pop.midco.net
  13. In the outgoing mail server field, enter: smtp.midco.net

  15. In the Internet Mail Logon window, you will need to enter your account name, full email address and password in the appropriate fields.
  16. Check the box in front of Remember Password, or you will need to enter the password each time you check your mail.

  17. Click Next, and then Finish.

  18. This will bring you back to the Internet Accounts Menu. Click close, and you are ready to send and receive mail.

Windows Live Mail 2011

  1. To open Windows Live Mail, click on the Windows button, choose All Programs, and select Windows Live Mail.
  2. If the Add Your Email Accounts window doesn't appear, click on the Accounts tab, and then choose Email.
  3. In the Add Your Email Accounts window:
    • Enter your email address and password.
    • Check Remember this password
    • Enter a display name for your sent messages (what people will see when you email them)
    • Check Manually configure server settings
  4. Click Next.
  5. On the Configure Server Settings page, under Incoming Server Information, enter the following information:
    • Server Type: POP
    • Server Address: popa.midco.net
    • Port: 995
    • Check Requires a secure connection (SSL)
    • Authenticate using: Clear Text
    • Logon user name: full email address
  6. Under Outgoing server settings, enter the following information:
    • Server Address: smtpa.midco.net
    • Port: 25
    • Check Requires a secure connection
    • Check Requires authentication
  7. Click Next, and then Finish.

Windows 10 

  1. Select the Windows button in lower left corner of screen and choose All Apps.
  2. Scroll down and select Mail. The first time setup wizard appears.
  3. Select Add Account to open the mail application.
  4. Choose the Settings icon (gear icon in lower left corner).
  5. Select Accounts on right side.
  6. Choose Add Account.
  7. Scroll down and select Advanced Setup.
  8. Select Internet Mail.
  9. Enter the following information:
    • Account Name: Name to identify email account
    • Your Name: Name as it will appear on outgoing emails
    • Incoming Mail Server: popa.midco.net
    • Account Type: POP3
    • User Name: Full email address
    • Password: Email address password
    • Outgoing (SMTP) Email Server: smtpa.midco.net
    • Outgoing Server Requires Authentication: Checked
    • Use the Same User Name and Password for Sending Email: Checked
    • Require SSL For Incoming Mail: Checked
    • Require SSL For Outgoing Email: Checked
  10. Select Sign In.
  11. Select Done.
