Email Setup

Below is related information and resources for email setup on wireless devices.

An additional option for Midco® Cable TV subscribers is to locate the Tech Tips folder in the On Demand main menu.

If you are unable to configure a device or if it is not listed below, please look through other phones for software with similar screens to your phone and, if it is not found, contact your device provider or manufacturer for additional support.

Apple iPhone Auto Configuration

  1. Open browser (ex. Safari)
    a. Navigate to http://ios.midco.net
  2. Enter the following information on the setup page:
    a. Email Address: Full email address
    b. Full Name: Name people will see the email coming from
    c. Password: Email address password
    d. Tap 'Request Configuration'
  3. Install Profile screen
    a. Tap 'Install'
  4. Install Profile popup
    a. Tap 'Install Now'
  5. Profile Installed screen
    a. Tap 'Done'
  6. Open Mail icon from home screen

Apple iPhone Manual Configuration  

 

 

  1. From the home screen, tap Settings
  2. Tap Mail, Contacts, Calendars
  3. From the Accounts section, tap Add Account
  4. Tap Other
  5. Tap Add Mail Account.
  6. On the New Account screen, enter the following information
    • Name: Name as it will appear on outgoing emails
    • Address: Full email address
    • Password: Email address password
    • Description: Optional description of email account
  7. Tap Next
  8. Tap POP
  9. In the Incoming Mail Server section, enter the following information
    • Host Name: popa.midco.net
    • Username: Full email address
    • Password: Email address password
  10. In the Outgoing Mail Server section, enter the following information
    • Host Name: smtpa.midco.net
    • Username: Full email address
    • Password: Email address password
  11. Tap Save
  12. From Accounts screen, tap the email account added
  13. Tap Advanced
  14. Under Outgoing Mail Server, tap SMTP
  15. Under Primary Server, tap smtpa.midco.net
  16. In the Outgoing Mail Server section, confirm/enter the following information
    • Host name: smtpa.midco.net
    • User Name: Full email address
    • Password: Email address password Use SSL: ON
    • Authentication: Password
    • Server Port: 25 (or 465)
  17. Tap Done
  18. Tap email account description (upper left corner)
  19. Tap Advanced
  20. In the Deleted Messages section, confirm the following information
    • Remove: After one week
  21. In the Incoming Settings section, confirm/enter the following information Use SSL: ON Authentication: Password Delete from server: Never Server Port: 995
  22. Press the Home button to return to the home screen
  23. Tap Mail to access email inbox

Android Phone Manual Configuration

  1. From Home screen, tap the Apps icon (located at bottom edge of screen
  2. Tap Email
  3. Enter the following:
    • Email Address: Full email address
    • Password: Email Address Password
  4. Tab Next
  5. Tap POP3
  6. Enter the following:
    • Username: Full email address
    • Password: Email address password
    • Server: popa.midco.net
    • Port: 995
    • Security type: SSL/TLS
    • Delete Email From Server: When I delete from Inbox
    • Authentication Type (if presented): Auto
  7. Tap Next
  8. Enter the following:
    • SMTP server: smtpa.midco.net
    • Port: 465
    • Security Type: STARTTLS
    • Require Signin: Checked
    • Username: Full email address
    • Password: Email address password
  9. Tap Next
  10. Inbox Checking Frequency
    • Select options for preferences on new email
  11. Tap Next
  12. Enter an account name and outgoing name displayed on emails sent
  13. Tap Finish
Windows

Windows Phone

  1. Swipe left to the App list
    a. Select 'Settings'
    b. Select 'Email + Accounts'
  2. Select 'Add an account > Other account'
  3. Email address box a. Type your full email address
  4. Password box a. Password = account number or customer created password
  5. Select 'Sign in'
  6. Do one of the following:
    a. Phone will attempt to find the settings and will fail
    Select 'Try again' (It will fail again, but the 'Advanced' button will then appear)
    b. Select 'Advanced'
  7. Select 'Internet eamil account'
    a. Account name = Name for account
    b. Your name = Name that will show on emails sent
    c. Incoming email server = popa.midco.net
    d. Port = 995 (some phone auto-populate this information)
    e. Account Type = POP3
    f. User name = Full email address
    g. Password = Account number or customer created password
    h. Outgoing (SMTP) email server = smtpa.midco.net
    i. Port = 25 (Some phones auto-populate this information)
    j. Outgoing server requires authentication = checked
    k. Use the same user name and password for sending an email = checked
  8. Select 'Advanced settings'
    a. Check box for 'Require SSL for incoming email'
    b. Check box for 'Require SSL for outgoing email'
    c. Select 'Sign in'  
Other

BlackBerry

  1. From BlackBerry home screen, click BlackBerry Setup > Set up Internet E-mail > Add An Email Account
  2. Type e-mail address and password, and click Next
  3. If BlackBerry device cannot determine appropriate server settings, click I will provide the settings to add this email account
  4. Scroll down and click Next
  5. Select Internet Service Provider Email (POP/IMAP) and click Next
  6. Type user name (for example, Johnsmith@midco.net)
  7. Scroll down and type the name of e-mail server
    • BlackBerry devices configured for Midco email default to using pop.midco.net over the IMAP protocol on port 143
  8. Click Next
  9. Outgoing server information does not need to be set up for email on a BlackBerry
    • BlackBerry users are required to subscribe to a data package (a.k.a. BlackBerry Internet Service or BIS) that will process outgoing email
  10. Click OK to complete setup 

Droid

  1. Tap the upward pointing arrow to get to app menu

    • Port 25 or 465 (try 25 first and if that does not work, then try 465)
    • Security Type SSL or TLS (if one does not work, try the other)
    Require sign-in should be checked

  2. From the Tools menu select Accounts

  4. From the Accounts window, click on the mail tab to show your mail accounts
  5. Highlight your mail account, and select remove.(It may just be listed as mail.)
