Midco Promotes Six Leaders and Hires Four New Leaders

April 17, 2018 – Sioux Falls, SD: Midco has promoted six leaders and hired four new leaders.

  • Bob Bartelt has been promoted to Director of Customer Experience Operations. In three years with Midco, Bartelt has proven to be an effective leader in the customer care department and a strong advocate for both the employee and customer experience. In his new role, he will be responsible for the day-to-day operations for the customer care teams in Sioux Falls and Fargo. Bartelt studied sales, marketing and management at Minnesota State Community and Technical College. He’ll graduate with a Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Mary this fall. Bartelt completed the FMWF Chamber of Commerce leadership program in 2016.
  • Justin Forde has been promoted to Sr. Director of Government Relations. Forde will act as Midco’s liaison between federal and state government agencies. In addition, he leads the company’s involvement in community economic development initiatives. Before joining Midco, Forde worked as regional director for Senator John Hoeven’s office, development manager for Bismarck State College and assistant director of marketing for North Dakota State University. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Northern State University and his master’s degree from Florida State University. 
  • Chris Garhart has been promoted to Director of Training and Quality. Garhart has worked at Midco for 12 years in various roles spanning training, customer service and account management. He achieves positive results in a collaborative and inclusive way. In his new role, Garhart will be responsible for the strategic and tactical deployment of training and quality across much of the organization. He attended Black Hills State University.
  • Aaron Kietzmann has been promoted to Director of Field Operations for South Dakota. Now in his seventeenth year with Midco, Kietzmann started his career in Pierre as a field technician. From there, he advanced to a Field Operations Manager role in Williston, ND during the height of the oil boom. In 2016, Kietzman moved to Sioux Falls to take on the General Operations Manager position. Kietzmann has a Power Line Construction and Maintenance degree from Mitchell Technical Institute.
  • Steve Mattern has been promoted to Director of Field Operations for North Dakota. Mattern has been with Midco foralmost 16 years, beginning as a field technician. He was instrumental in the building of the field operations team in Fargo. A graduate of Wadena Technical College, Mattern made Prairie Business Magazine’s list of “40 Most Influential Leaders Under 40” list in 2016
  • Cole Mack has been promoted to Director of Field Operations for Kansas and Minnesota. Mack has been with Midco for 11 years. He first joined Midco in 2004 as a field technician in Grand Forks. Mack returned to Midco in 2009 when the company acquired a system in Bemidji from Charter. He has played a key role on the Network Node Health program to better focus on reliability and proactive maintenance. Mack received a degree in telecommunications from Wadena Technical College in 2002. 
  • Brad Kanter has been hired as the Director of Financial Analytics. Kanter will work to enhance the financial analytics function at Midco by helping to improve the company’s data and reporting capabilities, as well as building financial models to better support data driven decision-making. He has extensive financial analysis experience, most recently serving as the VP of Financial Planning and Analysis at Gander Mountain. Kanter has also worked at Target, St. Jude and Merrill Lynch in a number of financial analyst roles. He received his bachelor’s degree from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and his MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. 
  • Chad Madsen has joined Midco as the Director of IT Development. He works closely with key stakeholders and customer advocates to provide quality software tools and websites for the business and its customers. Prior to joining Midco, Madsen served as the VP of Engineering at SONIFI. He’s held other software development and leadership positions in the technology industry as well as spending two years supporting the introduction of EMR solutions to clinics in Ghana. Madsen earned a bachelor’s degree in agriculture from South Dakota State University and a master’s degree in computer science from the University of South Dakota.
  • Chris Nogosek has been hired as the Director of Risk Advisory and Assurance Services. He will lead the company’s internal audit and partner with executive leadership to identify and mitigate risk. Nogosek is a CPA with certifications in internal auditing and information systems auditing. Located in Minneapolis, he’s worked at Fingerhut, Best Buy and Deluxe Corporation. Nogosek earned an MBA from the Carlson School of Management and a bachelor’s in business administration from the University  of Arizona. 
  • Scott Sylliassen is Midco’s new Director of IT Operations. He manages the server administrators responsible for corporate servers and storage. Sylliassen also provides strategic and tactical management for Midco’s Help Desk. Prior to Midco, he spent 20 years in healthcare IT. Most recently, Sylliassen served as Sanford’s Technology Director where he oversaw the health system’s enterprise servers, storage, databases and network security. He has a bachelor’s degree from Northern State University and master’s degree from the University of South Dakota. Sylliassen is certified with the Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL), which is an IT Service Management process certification.
