Cable TV Support

Why am I not receiving audio through my Standard Definition Digital Adapter?

There are two common reasons you may not be receiving audio through your Digital Adapter and the following steps will assist you in resolving this issue.

To start, make sure the TV and Digital Adapter are powered on. Next, confirm if the audio is missing on some channels or all channels and then follow the appropriate steps below.

Audio missing or in a different language on a few channels:

Some television programmers provide alternate language feeds with their programming and the Digital Adapter remote control has a button that toggles between these different languages. If you are missing audio on only a few channels, or if the audio is being broadcast in a different language on a specific channel please try the following:

  1. Press the LANG (language) button on the Digital Adapter remote control
  2. Continue to press the LANG button until the language/audio returns to the appropriate feed

Audio missing on all channels:

The volume on the Digital Adapter may have been muted and can often be fixed by unplugging the power cord from the back of the Digital Adapter or the wall for approximately 30 seconds.  If the audio does not return after the Digital Adapter powers back on from the reset, the following instructions will assist you in reprogramming the audio for the Digital Adapter.

Note: When programming the Digital Adapters volume, the volume bars will appear at the top of the TV screen and will look different than the standard TV volume bars

Programming your Digital Adapter remote to control your Digital Adapter volume:

Mute DTA
Digital Adapter volume when muted
Volume DTA
Digital Adapter volume when not muted
  1. Before beginning, turn the volume all the way down on your television
  2. Press and hold the [DTA] button and the [OK]" button simultaneously until the LED (located at the top of the remote by the TV button) illuminates
  3. Press the [Volume Up]  button once, then
  4. Press the [DTA] button
    1. The LED will blink and go out

Your remote is now programmed to control only the volume through your Digital Adapter, continue to adjust the volume on the Digital Adapter and program the remote back to function with the television

  1. Press the volume up button until all blue bars are highlighted

Note: at this time you will still not have volume on your television

  1. Simultaneously press and hold the [DTA] button and the [OK]buttons until the LED illuminates
  2. Press and hold the [DTA] button and the [OK]button simultaneously until the LED illuminates
  3. Press [Volume Up] once
  4. Press the [TV] button
    1. The LED will blink and go out
  5. Test the remote to confirm it controls the TV volume.

If the audio did not return after reprogramming the volume, try the following:

Reset the Digital Adapter remote control to factory default settings

  1. Press the [DTA] button and the [OK] button simultaneously until the LED illuminates
  2. Press the [Menu] button two times
  3. The LED will blink and go out

Program the Digital Adapter remote to control the TV

  1. Simultaneously press and hold the [OK] and [Mute] buttons down until the LED (located at the top of the remote by the TV button) illuminates
  2. Pointing the remote towards the TV, enter the 3-digit code for the TV (click here to access the User Guide for the TV codes)
  3. Once the correct code is entered the TV will turn off
  4. Press the [Mute] button to turn the TV turns back on. (If the TV does not power on, continue to the next code until the TV does power on.)
  5. Once the TV has powered on, press the [OK] button right away to lock in the code in
    1. The LED will blink and go out
  6.  Test the remote to confirm it controls the TV volume
